IamtheCODE is the first African-led global movement to mobilize governments, the private sector, philanthropic foundations, investors and civil society to advance STEAMED (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, Entrepreneurship and Design) education. Its goal is to mobilize these groups to invest in future technologies that can drive sustainable development for women and girls in marginalized communities. We aim to enable 1 million young women and girls’ coders by 2030

The Role

The Program Operation Manager role is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and delivery of important programs for iamtheCODE. This role integrates several projects which form a program to support the objective of the organization. The overall objective is to empower 1 million girls, across the globe, to code by 2030. Key efforts include the phased launch of the website, consolidated online learning portal and overall content creation for our end users. Having an integrated view across efforts, this role consolidates and oversees the execution as the single point of contact. Strong team management abilities, project management skills, problem resolution and ability to speak to senior executives on progress of the program are key required abilities. A technical/operations background is a plus although a broad set of skills (Marketing, Products, Projects, etc) is the most important to execute well. In this role, you will have the chance to be part of a dynamic team and lead engaging projects

Role Summary:

  • Program management,
  • Project cost controls against business case estimates,
  • Driving project governance and manage project reporting outputs for to all stakeholders.
  • Point of escalation on project tasks with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Managing project scope, milestones, risk log and issues log.

Objectives & accountabilities

  • Ensures robust program management, project performance management and quality output across all sub-projects linked to the overall program
  • Manages the overall coordination, status reporting, schedules, RAID log and stability of project-oriented work efforts, ensuring that project goals and objectives are met within agreed upon time, scope and resource requirements
  • Develops detailed project office status reporting and project plans as required
  • Partners with third party support teams, design and technical leads to ensure a clear and required solution definition with a proposed implementation plan
  • Acts as focal point for team supporting their efforts for delivery and addressing issues as they arise
  • Responsible for creating, running, and managing all aspects of change to the appropriate framework, implementing appropriate programme risk management and maintaining appropriate controls to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and internal governance requirements
  • Responsible for stakeholder management, building productive relationships with key portfolio stakeholders
  • Enabling priority decisions to be made. Depending, on the business needs and scope of the program
  • Able to fundraise and grow the organization


  • Bachelor’s degree or Master degree in business or related field.
  • Proven experience in program management.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven Cross Cultural and Overseas experience.
  • Proven experience managing a team.
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Understanding of project management and reporting.
  • Understanding of Emerging Countries landscape such as Africa, Latin America and India.
  • Ability to connect with young girls living in marginalised communities by showing empathy, compassion and kindness.
  • Ability to keep confidential information and respect other people Culture
