This week’s episode welcomes Professor Tim Unwin, UNESCO Chair in ICT4D, and Emeritus Professor of Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London. Tim is a long friend of Africa who has written many books about Digital interventions for the marginalised communities, especially the disabled. His book “Reclaiming information & communication technologies for development” inspired our host. He was the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) from 2011-2015, where he travelled intensively to Africa and Asia. He was appointed Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St George in 2016. Tim was born in England and had a mathematician mother who inspired him to love technology and innovation. He worked intensively with marginalised communities and advised the government in getting the right policies in ICT4D (Information and Communications Technologies for Development). Both touch on their long friendship and appreciation to collaborate and work together.
