What is Environmental Engineering?

How can we, as humans, lessen our impact on the world? How can we, as humans, lessen any harmful impacts of the world on us? These are some of the questions environmental engineers ask themselves every day when they solve problems related to humans and the environment.

Environmental engineering is similar to other careers that work with protecting and caring for the environment. However, with engineering you will have individuals designing tools or physical solutions to address problems they solve. This may mean they can build systems to deal with erosion, water quality and treatment, or even renewable energy!

Watch the video below to learn more about environmental engineering. While you watch the video think about what an environmental engineer does, how they work with others, and what kind of problems they are trying to solve.

Introduction to Public Health Engineering in Humanitarian Contexts: In today’s world there are humanitarian crises happening every day that have complex issues. Engineers and technical specialists in a variety of areas play an important role in responding to these challenges. Learn more about engineering and how it works in a humanitarian context.

. Introduction to Engineering Mechanics “This course is an introduction to learning and applying the principles required to solve engineering mechanics problems. Concepts will be applied in this course from previous courses you have taken in basic math and physics. The course addresses the modeling and analysis of static equilibrium problems with an emphasis on real world engineering applications and problem solving.”
